OSI Governance Survey
We invite the Open Source community to participate in the OSI Governance Survey and help inform the future of OSI’s governance. The survey is an opportunity for community members and stakeholders to share their perspectives on how OSI’s Board of Directors should be selected and seated.
The Open Source Initiative (OSI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit organization. Its Board of Directors owes primary legal and fiduciary duties to the organization and its mission to ensure strategic alignment, financial integrity, and legal compliance in stewarding the Open Source Definition (OSD) and educating/supporting/advocating for the ecosystem.
The OSI Board has created a Governance Working Group to evaluate how directors are selected and seated. Following an elections pause in early 2026, this study will inform recommendations presented to the full board in September 2026 to ensure an engaged, representative, and effective governing body that works in partnership with the staff of OSI to fulfill the mission and vision of OSI.
Your input is vital. Individual responses will remain confidential to the working group unless specifically and explicitly requested to be shared, and data will be analyzed across stakeholder categories.
