Start the holiday season by becoming a member of the Open Source Initiative.

Together we can make a difference – become an OSI member today. Only with a strong member base can the Open Source Initiative can continue its role as the steward of the Open Source Definition, the internationally recognized nexus of trust, a foundation for, and authority in Open Source software.

The OSI offers a variety of opportunities for individuals, Open Source projects & foundations, public sector organizations, institutions of higher education, and businesses to join and contribute to our mission.

Today we start our 2022 membership drive: Help us reach our goal to sign up 300 new and renewing members by January 13, 2023! If you are a current member, thank you so much (don’t forget to renew your membership).

If you would like to support and give back to the Open Source software movement, please consider an OSI membership. We have 2 levels of participation to choose from:

  1. Supporter Level – $50 / year includes voting privileges.
  2. New Professional Level – $300 per year

Details and benefits for each level can be found here. You’ll notice that the lower membership fee is a little higher than what you are used to. The previous fee ($40) was the original fee from 2012 when the concept of individual membership was introduced, ten years ago and it never changed. We strive to reach out to a wide variety of people from all over the world and therefore we decided to keep the membership fee very low.

If you would like to become a member, but the $50 fee is more than you can manage, we have a free Basic Level. Voting privileges are not included at this level but you can still participate in many of the activities we’re planning for 2023.

Corporate sponsorships are also available. Contact us at: sponsors@opensource.org to find out more about how your company can promote and support the Open Source values, communities and software.

The Open Source Initiative (OSI) is a California 501(c)3 non-profit. Please consult your tax adviser to determine the tax deductibility of your gift to the OSI.
