SUMMARY:SOSS Fusion
DESCRIPTION:The Secure Open Source Software (SOSS) Fusion Conference is a p
remier event for both upstream producers and downstream consumers of open
source software\, bringing together a diverse array of professionals – f
rom the public sector to software developers\, security engineers\, and cy
 bersecurity experts to CISOs\, CIOs\, Founders\, and tech pioneers.\n\nDon
't miss this session\n\nClearlyDefined: A Crowdsourced Database of Licensi
 ng Metadata\n\nWednesday October 23\, 2024 11:05am - 11:35am EDT\nSalon 4\
n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClearlyDefined is a free service and open source project fr
om the Open Source Initiative (OSI) that helps organizations ensure supply
chain compliance and security. Generating SBOMs at scale for each stage o
n the supply chain\, for every build or release\, has proven to be a real
challenge. And fixing the same missing or wrongly identified licensing met
adata over and over again has been a redundant pain for everyone. This is
where ClearlyDefined shines\, as it makes it really easy for organizations
to fetch a cached copy of licensing metadata for each component through a
simple API and fix any issues\, which is always up-to-date thanks to its
crowdsourced database. In this session\, we'll provide an introduction to
ClearlyDefined and discuss the latest developments. We'll provide case stu
dies of how organizations like GitHub\, SAP\, Microsoft\, and Bloomberg ar
e leveraging ClearlyDefined not only for their own needs internally\, but
for the benefit of all.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nLynette Rayle\n\nSenior So
ftware Engineer\, GitHub\nLynette Rayle is a Senior Software Engineer at G
itHub working on license compliance solutions.  She is the technical lead
for internal work to accurately identify licenses and attributions for de
pendencies and has worked on all systems related to the license compliance
  process.\n\n\n\n\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nNick Vidal\n\nCommunity Manager\, Open Sou
rce Initiative\nNick Vidal is Community Manager at the Open Source Inititi
ave and Outreach Chair at the Confidential Computing Consortium from the L
inux Foundation. Previously\, he was the Director of Community and Busines
